What do I have to do to earn rewards each month?

Three simple things every monthly qualification cycle:

1) Have at least 1 ACH credit or ACH payment transaction post and settle to your account.
2) Make at least 12 debit card purchases that post and settle — everyday spending counts (groceries, gas, coffee).
3) Be enrolled in and log into online banking or the GENCO Mobile app.

That’s it. No minimum balance, no hoops.

What happens if I miss the qualifications one month?

Nothing bad — your account stays open and there are still no monthly maintenance fees. You just won’t earn rewards for that cycle. The next cycle resets automatically, so meeting the qualifications again puts you right back to earning cash back or dividends.

Are there any monthly fees or minimum balance requirements?

No and no. Both Kasasa Cash Back and Kasasa Cash are free checking accounts with no monthly maintenance fees and no minimum balance to maintain. You don’t have to keep a certain amount on deposit to keep the account open.

What’s the difference between Kasasa Cash Back and Kasasa Cash?

Kasasa Cash Back pays you a percentage back on qualifying debit card purchases — great if you put most of your everyday spending on a debit card.

Kasasa Cash pays a high APY on your account balance — better if you typically keep a larger balance in checking. You can switch between accounts later if your habits change.

How do ATM fee refunds work?

Use any ATM nationwide. When you meet your monthly qualifications, GENCO refunds the surcharge fees other banks charge you — up to $15 per cycle ($4.99 per single transaction). The refund posts to your account on the first business day after each statement cycle ends.

Is my money safe at GENCO?

Yes. GENCO Federal Credit Union is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Your deposits are insured up to at least $250,000 per account holder — the same federal protection big banks offer through the FDIC.

How do I apply for an account?

Start your application online — it takes about 5 minutes — at gencofcu.org, call us at (254) 340-1240, or stop by any GENCO branch. You’ll need a valid government ID, Social Security card, and proof of residence (like a phone or utility bill), plus a way to fund your opening deposit. A GENCO team member will finalize your account from there.

Qualification Information: Account transactions and activities may take one or more days to post and settle to the account and all must do so during the Monthly Qualification Cycle (MQC) in order to qualify for the account’s rewards. “Monthly Qualification Cycle” means a period beginning on the first day of the current month and ends on the last day of the month. The following activities do not count toward earning account rewards: ATM processed transactions, transfers between accounts, debit card purchases processed by merchants and received by our credit union as ATM transactions, non-retail payment transactions and purchases made with debit cards not issued by our credit union. Transactions bundled together by merchants and received by our institution as a single transaction count as one transaction for the purpose of earning account rewards. “Statement Cycle” means the period for which the credit union provides a summary of the financial activities and transactions that post and settle to the member’s account.

Reward Information: When your Kasasa® Cash Checking account qualifications are met during a MQC, the following rewards will be distributed to your account(s): Kasasa® Cash Dividend Rates and APY*: 1) Tier 1 — A dividend rate of 4.17% with an APY of 4.25% will be paid on the portion of your average daily balance that is less than or equal to $10,000.00. Tier 2: A dividend rate of 0.75% with an APY of 4.25%–0.75% depending on the balance in the account will be paid on the portion of your average daily balance that is greater than $10,000.00. 2) ATM Withdrawal Fee Reimbursements: You will receive reimbursements up to $15 ($4.99 per single transaction) for nationwide ATM withdrawal fees incurred during the MQC in which you met your Kasasa® Cash qualifications. Rewards are credited to the appropriate account on the first business day following the last day of each Statement Cycle. When your Kasasa® Cash account qualifications are not met, the dividend rate paid on the entire balance will be 0.05% with an APY of 0.05% and ATM withdrawal fees will not be refunded. APY = Annual Percentage Yield. APYs are accurate as of 10/01/2023. Rates and rewards are variable and may change after account is opened. Fees may reduce earnings.

Additional Information: Account approval, conditions, qualifications, limits, timeframes, enrollments, log-ons and other requirements apply. Enrollment and receipt of electronic statements is a condition of the GENCO Kasasa® Cash Checking account. However, you may choose to receive a paper statement, as well, for a fee of $2.00 per month. Rewards may vary by account. There is a $50.00 minimum deposit required to open the checking account. To qualify for rewards each MQC, the member must have 1) a recurring Direct Deposit or one recurring ACH Credit or Debit, 2) enrolled and logged-in to online banking and 3) 12 MasterCard CheckCard purchases (PIN- or Signature-based) post and settle during the MQC. There is a limit of 1 account per social security number / individual taxpayer identification number. There are no recurring monthly service charges or fees to open or close this account.
